Chopping Block: Seattle Hardcore
Nowhere To Run is 14 tracks packed into 18 minutes of pure chaos. A true hardcore record, and easily one of my favorites that I’ve heard in years. When I was first sent the songs, I knew it would be a repeat album for me, but I never expected to fall in love with it the way I have. Some of the first punk songs I ever learned on guitar came from bands like Suicidal Tendencies, Germs, Misfits, and the Sex Pistols. This record brought back so many memories from those early day

The Album That Gave Me My Music Back: Heavy Metal By Cameron Winter
For the first blog post of 2026, I chose an album that’s really near and dear to me. Heavy Metal by Cameron Winter. This album came to me at a time when I really needed it; only about a month ago, honestly. Between the blog, school, life, and work, my brain has been completely consumed and totally drained. Add the holidays on top of that, and I’ve just been a mess. I’m not afraid to admit when I’m having a down moment, and that’s kind of why I started this platform in the fi

Five of My Favorite Releases - 2025:
At The Beach, In Every Life - Gigi Perez: Gigi Perez became one of my very first favorites this year. When I first heard Sailor Song; I sobbed. Then I heard Fable and it was so moving to me, it inspired me to pick my acoustic back up and take a stab at another solo project. Such an inspiring and beautiful album from top to bottom. NEVER ENOUGH - Turnstile: Never Enough is the first Turnstile album that I really really fucked with. Step 2 Rhythm is awesome, but it wasn’t reall

Tysk Tysk Task: Toadstool
Tysk Tysk Task is Samantha Hartsel, Rick Martel, Joe Milia and Keith Dusoe! This week we’re covering their song “Toadstool” along with many other topics! :) When I first heard “Toadstool,” I was immediately captivated. The uniqueness of the instrumentation paired with Samantha’s haunting vocals made for such a surprising treat. Every time I hear this song, I think it belongs in a Halloween movie or something. The vibes are incredibly ominous, and Rick’s guitar leads are so w

Pack Your Tears Into A Suitcase and Scream Like There's No Tomorrow: Her Words Kill:
Like many others, my introduction to Her Words Kill came recently through their song “Sir, This Is A Cutthroat Fashion” the track behind the viral TikTok “milkaholic” trend. As most of you probably know, the clip used on TikTok is only a tiny portion of the actual song, and honestly, it does zero justice to what the band really sounds like. Catchy lyrics, guttural screams, fast guitar riffs, and a vocal dynamic that makes every song feel intricate; that’s what I think of n

Hot Mulligan, Drug Church, Anxious and Arms Length 11-30-25 @ The Pageant, St. Louis.
Growing up in Southern IL makes it damn near impossible to catch big bands unless you’re ready to drive forever, so most of my life has been spent taking trips to St. Louis for shows. One of the very first venues I ever went to was The Pageant, and it’s still one of my all-time favorites. So when I saw Hot Mulligan was playing there with Drug Church, Anxious, and Arms Length, I knew I HAD to be there. I hopped online to buy tickets… completely sold out. Just my luck. Then som

An Early Review of "erer"; Glitterer's Fifth LP:
Glitterer’s new LP erer is their strongest work yet. Coming off the success of 2024’s Rationale , the band has clearly honed in on who they are and what they do best. This album feels like the full spectrum of their catalog and has moments that nod back to Life’s Not a Lesson , mixed with the refined, confident energy of Rationale . It’s Glitterer at their most them . 1. Somebody The album kicks off with a bass-heavy, classic-Glitterer punch. The verses are poppy and driving

Tigers Jaw: The Band That Got Me Out Of Bed
Tigers Jaw’s self-titled record is one of my most cherished albums of all time. It’s filled with angst and youthful emotion, distorted guitars, acoustic moments, fast punk energy, and slow, emotional ballads. It’s hands down one of the best albums to ever come out of the emo and East Coast scene. Honestly, to me, it’s one of the greatest albums ever. Sure, it’s not your typical sell-out record that some magazine might call “the best album of all time,” but it connects with t

Militarie Gun, Public Opinion and Liquid Mike: Portal. Louisville, KY 10/31/25
It was Friday morning when I woke up and saw that Camp Spaceman had to move the Militarie Gun show. I was so sad, and I thought surely there isn’t enough time to relocate the show to a different venue, but boy was I wrong. Portal in Louisville was all over it. As if nothing ever happened, the show was moving ahead full force, and nothing was stopping it this time. We rolled into Louisville around 4:00 that evening, and I’ll admit we were running later than I would’ve liked. S

Let's Take A Dive Into Pool Kids:
We just had Dikembe, and now we have another one of my favorite groups from Florida. POOL KIDS!!!! Pool Kids blend ‘00’s pop punk vibes with synthy pop music and plenty of other vibes along the way. Their third LP “Easier Said Than Done” is all of these things, and the personality of the band shines through with each track. Lead Vocalist/Songwriter Christine Goodwyne, takes you through a cycle of emotions, from moments of intimacy to moments of confidence. This record is one

Gollylagging: Bostons Next Big Band
Gollylagging is a fun, noisy, and energetic band hailing from the city of Boston. Their most recent EP “Dry Rot” is a great example of what this band is all about, featuring fuzzed out guitars, unique synths, nasty bass lines and smooth vocals for the cherry on top. The EP starts with some very nice indie rock vibes and the bass playing a super cool sliding intro, then it’s met with a wall of sound and the smooth vocals mentioned previously. There’s so many levels to “Atv” an

Dikembe Is Back: A Look At Their Upcoming King -EP
When I first got in contact with the guys in Dikembe, the last thing I expected was an early look at their new EP. I’ve been blasting their music for years now, at every band practice, every long day in the work van slinging flowers, I couldn’t believe my luck when they sent over the project. The last week or so I’ve had KING - EP on repeat, and it is a time machine back to the early 2000’s. Something like a mix between Brand New and The Used, but with the Dikembe spin on it.
